I’m not sure how to post this unidentified object from this phone, but I’ll give it a try. Solid and heavy brass. Appears to be a riveted decoration. The front had a design or lettering but is illegible. Found along Neosho River in Kansas at a known military encampment up to civil war. Also found what appears to be a canteen lid? IMG_4565.jpeg

I agree with Jack. I think the protrusion in the middle of one side is the primer on the powder side of the shell and the other side as what looks like an indentation of a hammer on the outside of the same primer.
