Has anyone ever seen one of these before? If so what is it? The following is printed on the back side of the button: "WATERVILLE MFG CO."

Old garment button that dates to the mid 1800's. Here is a similar one-

The McGuinn-&-Bazelon book on dating button backmarks says in 1847 the button-making firm of Ives, Kendrick & Co. became the Waterville Mfg. Company, and that it lasted into the 1850s and made "fine Sporting buttons."

Clearly, in addition to Sporting, Navy, and Dragoon buttons, it also made fancy Fashion buttons for civilian clothing.
