A good friend of mine found what he calls a “collar tab” on an old homestead site here in Ontario. Neither of us have ever seen this type of Liberty Bust before when compared to the 1834 LC he found on the same site.
Has anyone ever seen this type of jewelry before and the style of bust used for the casting? :icon_scratch: Also, is it actually a collar tab or did it have another function. :dontknow:

Thanks,
Dave

Maybe a shirt stud. Like from a shirt stud and cufflink set.

Thanks for your post and suggestion Mike.
I'm still hoping other might confirm if this actually is a 19thc men's clothing accessory and if possible a date range. :icon_scratch:

Thanks again,
Dave

No question it is a shirt stud. Patriotic theme. Maybe from the US Centennial? Just guessing... I did see a few patriotic themed studs online including the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, and C76.

And these Lady Liberty button studs. They are kinda big though... Listed as Victorian but likely circa 1900.

Sorry for taking so long to post a response on your post Matt, I forgot I even posted this for my buddy. :laughing7:

Great information, I'll relay your suggestions to my friend.

Thanks again,
Dave
