Unidentified Lead Relic

I dug this nickel sized lead object in a civil war camp in central Mississippi. It appears to have a reverse "12" in the center. Is this some type of stamp device??

Depending on the way I look at it, it seems to be US or JS........? Could it just be a simple lead ingot/babbitt?
