This is the first point I've found like this. I live in MD and found it on a beach where I regularly hunt Indian artifacts. Looks like a clovis, but it's not fluted. What do you think it is?

I dunno on that one ,one thing i do know is that base def. looks ground ,it looks be an early form, but as said ,the flaking does not quite fit the bill, looks mostly percussion flaked...hopefully someone more educated on this type will chime in.BTW very nice lance

Hey nice peice. Would definetly have me pumped. I can tell you there is really only 1 or 2 areas in MD that I know of that would produce a clovis. If I knew what area you were in I could tell you. PM me if you r worried about naming a site or just let me know north south east or west. Im northern md down into Baltimore county. Plenty of woodland, early archaic stuff but no clovises in my cases.

I'm on the Eastern Shore of MD if that's any help.

If your on the shores near tilghman island its a good chance it amy be. I know of 1 unfluted that came from the shores near the wye river. The base on urs does look ground. Hope an expert chimes in.

I do love a good mystery. I should mention that I have found a Holcomb on the same site. I think there's a show coming up, so I'll have it looked at hands on.

Hi Fiwi,

Just saw your post after I sent you a PM. Nice point, whatever it is. While I still lean toward a Woodland (Fox Creek) point, I would not rule out either an unfluted Clovis, or a Paleo lanceolate, until I had the piece checked by someone who is an expert on Paleo pieces.

Yup what artorius said....as it has features that could place it anywhere from late paleo to late woodland, get that baby checked over by an expert. And if indeed its paleo id def. get it authenticated

Hey fiwi quick question. Where is this show coming up at? I never hear of shows in MD or southern Pa so if you do hear of 1 let me know. Appreciate it. Hope it turns out to be paleo but a fox creek that looks like that is an awsome find too.

There's one on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Hall, 371 Main St. (Rt. 42), Cheswold, DE. Not too far from where I am. Thinking about taking my finds.
