Haven?t been out much the last few weeks. Been to hot & dry too dig in peoples yards! Finally got some rain & cooler temps a couple days ago. Went out to a new spot yesterday for a couple hours. The yard wasn?t mowed & was borderline detectable! I jumped around the lower spots, very trashy & lots of iron. Pulled a crusty token, then a 1919 wheatie...... started to get a little excited.....then dug a really nice 1918 merc at about 6? is the unmoved grass. Not much after that, so I decided to head back to the Jeep & try again after it was mowed. Swinging rather quick on the short walk to Jeep I heard a faint, soft high tone. Thought to myself most likely another merc. I was totally surprised when I saw it was a 17761/2 real!!! My second oldest silver so far & silvers # 46 & 47 for the year!

Congrats on your awesome find! Thanks for sharing!!

Great coin with such a historic year. That’s why you always swing to and from the car. Congrats!

Congratulations on a good hunt. I might be mistaken, but it looks to me like that half reale has a counter stamp. I’m not sure what the one means, it it looks like a circle with spokes coming from the center. Hopefully someone with more coin knowledge will chime in. A close up of the coin would be helpful to be sure. Stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.

Very Nice, love the silver, Congrats on your finds!!

How do you find this much silver in sw Pennsylvania? Isn’t that Appalachian hillbilly territory? I’ve spent 10 years in appalachia detecting, and haven’t found but maybe 5 silvers. Maybe you are in the middle of Pittsburgh.

Sweet Spanish silver, congrats! :occasion14:

Lol! I?m quite a ways south of Pittsburgh...... focusing on old 1800s houses & have done really well at the older parks & fairgrounds. Most have have been detected before, just looking for scraps & leftovers in all the trash! Happy Hunting & Good Luck

Mike that's a killer Spanish coin - congratulations!
I believe that's definitely counterstamped, but like others I don't know what that specific counter stamp means. I hope someone with more knowledge will comment!

Nicely done, and all the best with your detecting,

Lanny

Well...Isn't that a nice surprise. Beautiful coin. It appears to be counter-stamped too. Big Congrats!
