Today I found a US oval buckle with my new Fisher F75 ltd. I dont think its Civil War period. Does anyone have a clue how old it might be. The site is a house that dates to the 1700's. We have found some coins from the colonial period to the present here. There is alot of ground around the house. Most of which is covered with briars and ticks. I went back here today with the Fisher to rehunt to see if I could find anything that was missed. I found the buckle and the small bell. I plan on going back soon. Any help identifying the bell or what period the buckle is from would be appreciated. Thanks

Deffinetly a military buckle...Have you found any other military type stuff at this site bullets, casings etc...

Congratulations on the US buckle and the crotal bell. I would imagine that it still rings since it is intact.

NICE FIND!!! CONGRATS!!!

The bell still rings. My hunting partner said he found a military button on this site a few years ago. He said he would try and find it to see what period the button is from.

Nice buckle for sure and I'm sure someone will come along soon to help you identify it.

It is a shame that it is damaged but still a killer find!

Id definitely research that buckle a bit more,Ive seen numerous military buckles on here and online,Never have i seen one like yours. It could be more valuable than you may think if it was rare issue or something,Just a thought.....

Thanks for sharing,
HH John!

TICKS ??? can't stand them ! What makes you think it's not a Yankee Civil War buckle :icon_scratch: has the puppy paws on the back .

Crotal bell can go back to the 18 th century .

Your in a great area for some outstanding Rev War and later military finds .

Welcome to T Net and can't wait to see what else you dig .
