UNESCO wants to check out Barry Clifford and take the silver bar away from the president! :laughing7:

ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar -- (AP) The United Nations says it is sending experts to Madagascar to assess a claim by underwater explorers that they had found treasure and the wreck of a ship belonging to the pirate known as Captain Kidd.
Ulrike Guerin, a specialist in underwater heritage for the U.N. cultural agency UNESCO, said Thursday that experts will examine artefacts at the site where American explorer Barry Clifford had been operating.
UNESCO is also concerned that Clifford's group may have damaged the site.
Last week, Clifford said he found a silver bar that he believes belonged to William Kidd, who raided ships in the late 17th century and was executed in London in 1701. Clifford presented the bar to Madagascar's president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, in a ceremony on the country's Sainte Marie island.

Like my dear departed Father used to say." People in Hell want ice water, but it doesn't mean they are going to get it."

<from Wikipedia 15 May 2062>
"And so began the reign of the universally hated International Shipwrecks & Antiquities Police. This date is often referred to as the beginning of the Second Age of Piracy."

Ahhh yes,,, the proud moment of discovery,,, showing and telling the world what you have found..

When will people learn to keep their mouth shut when they make a find like this?
Sure,, someone will talk eventually, but until the legalities of ownership are tackled,,, I would attempt to quell all news in a find like this till a plan was formed.

Hit

the first rule of finding pirate loot is that modern day "pirates" --govts and their toadies will try to claim it belongs to them..

Always shut up…..nothing good happens when you talk about finds……..
It is the pirates in uniforms who are the greatest threat today.
