Re: uncle martin's cool frame

Very cool pieces larson. That piece with the face on it is awesome. Also, the point on the bottom looks a lot older than what you normally find.

Thanks for the picture.

Re: uncle martin's cool frame

Sir larson,

I am VERY new to trying to identify my finds, but have been collecting for years. Nothing much to speak of or even post here, and have NOT found anything like the stuff you post.

Question, what would be the purpose of the bone piece with the face on it? Gaming, trading, or possibly an amulet of sorts?

To me the bone pieces are more intriguing than the points. Yes, all have some personal feel to them, but the bone pieces, to me, seem like they would have been more personal since they would have been used many times over by the maker/owner...

If my new found interest, and questions, are too much, please let me know. You have sparked an interest! :o

Those are way cool....Thanks for the call. I really enjoyed our conversation...look forward to talking with and learning some more.....Would love to see a picture of the buffalo skull with the point stuck in it thanks tim

Re: uncle martin's cool frame

thanks
I don't know what the pendant is made of but I will try to figure it out
I think the face is some kind of a good luck charm or something, uncle martin calls it a 'warrior stick'
I have a few more faces and one thing they have in common is that they don't ever have a nose
srv, I find so many kinds of points which tells me this field must have had several different cultures for thousands of years

Re: uncle martin's cool frame

Very great collection your uncle has!

Some oldies in there too. That Duncan is a fine specimen!

I am curious about the bead. I have one just like it but can't figure out its age. It doesn't look like the typical trade beads from Fort Union and other trading posts during the 1800s. I think they are older, probably 1600-1700s??

Re: uncle martin's cool frame

I think I have a few of those kind of beads also
I think they are trade beads also

what type is the other patinated point???
