I'm back out at the site with the oyster shell middens and metal detecting with the XP Deus. Finds include military buttons, coins and colonial relics. I also find what many would consider a "find of a lifetime," a Scottish 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards Officer's Bone Button from the American Revolutionary War. To my knowledge, this button has never been dug before and was published in the "Supplement to Insignia of Independence, by Don Troiani and James L Kochan." Here is the link: Insignia of Independence Supplement You can also see a picture of the publication below and the transition from finding a paper thin piece of folded brass to this gold guilt Rev War button cleaned and preserved. The video attached gives a detailed identification of each find.

Very nice my friend!! Congrats!

Absolutely beautiful finds! Love the buckle and 1812 button.

Now, I’m confused and I don’t want to sit through a video...what button was found? If found today, how is it already published? I imbibed last night and need to sleep in this Christmas morning, so I am foggy.

Merry Christmas!!!

I dug the Scots 3rd of Foot button around Halloween and then dug another piece of it a few days later. I posted the button on Don Troiani's Revolutionary War Buttons, Plates and Accouterments Facebook page, which he then added to his supplement to his "insignia of Independence" book. The pictures above show the button and the publication. Merry Christmas!

Thanks! This thing rang up a 30 at 26kHz on the Deus. Merry Christmas!

Excellent...I am no longer confused! Again, really great historical finds!

Amazing, incredible and any other adjective you can throw in there- Big-time Congrats!

What a great site you got there! I watched the whole 50-something minute video. Great job on the preservation. Any reason why the remaining fragments of that button are not there? I hope you know where you found it and go back and try to locate the remainder. :occasion14:

Yes, I have been back a multiple times and have dug it up multiple times. I will go back again to see if I can find more, however these pieces are tiny! I have been using the Deus HF Elliptical coil at 74kHz and reactivity 4 to pick up the tiny pieces. Its just old and extremely thin brass that is corroded, so I'm happy to have saved what I have thus far.

Amazing piece of history, but even better job on the restoration! Great job, and congrats bro!

Very nice Bharp! My banner vote is in!

Incredible finds congrats! The detail is amazing, nice clean up.

The Equinox might be better than the Deus--I think it's a superior machine (I have both). You'd be surprised at the sliver of a silver dime that was sliced in 3 pieces I located over 2 days to reconstruct it with a Minelab. All of it it there--consider screening a few square yards (area not volume) and then run your Garrett carrot thru the dirt at 3 sensitivity. The Garrett pinpointer is amazing. Your find is amazing. Def more Banner worthy than a lot of stuff that ends up there de facto. :icon_thumright:

interesting find - congrats
