Ugliest ring ever?

Hi all

I found this on the beach a while ago and, not knowing what is was, tossed it into the "Stuff" box.
Sifting through the box today, i came across it again and still have no idea what it is. It is stamped inside what looks like 925 but i seriously doubt it is silver. It is rather heavy, but the 'join/seam' in it makes me doubt.

Have tried cleaning it, but it stays this ugly dull grey color.

Looks like a bushing, If a 20ga. shotgun shell will slide inside smoothly. It may be that it reads .675 thousands.

it may still be silver....get some silver polish and see how shiny it gets

It looks like a shim to convert a 12ga single shot or double gun to 20 guage. If it will slip into the chamber and fit snugly even with the back of a 12 ga breach, that's what it might be. Or it could be a 20 guage sizing ring for a Lee Loader? Or even none of the above! Monty
