  • Not sure what these would go to. Site is middle 1800s. the one with the loop on it appears to only be on just one side. At first i thought it was broke but appears too smooth to be broken 20130813_133722.webp. thanks

Hey nyiangelo!! Not certain about the top "buckle", but the bottom one appears to be an adjustment buckle off a lifejacket!! Neat Finds!! By the way vpnavy, your FROG Crackes Me Up!! 3D and ALL!! He He !! GOOD HUNTING to ALL!! VERDE!!

Thats off of a sword belt plate The loop is for an over the shoulder strap to help carry the weight

I'll be darned if I can find an image at the moment,but here is the idea

The belts with the shoulder strap are generically called "Sam Brownes" I've never seen one with a loop on the plate keeper...... That's pretty odd.

I'll be darned if I can find an image at the moment,but here is the idea

Generally speaking, that type of configuration is found on belt slide like the one shown below rather than a keeper. I have seen one other like the one posted, but it was on a post war fraternal associated sword plate.
The other is called a "triple slide" used on web straps and narrow web belts.

Yes,I know Rob,and you may be right about the fraternal association,I have seen this type of rig several times,and just cant find an image....maybe it was non-military?I do beleive they are 1870's-
