I went to a bottle show with a friend today and, while I didn't buy any bottles I did get some coins and buttons. Here are two(three?) coins I picked up cheap. The first looks like a five dollar half eagle gold coin but it is not gold and it doesn't measure the same as a real one. Second are two large cents joined together so heads show on both sides. Any ideas how to separate them or would you leave them together?

The cents look like they are soldered together. Heat will separate them but you'll have solder stuck permanently on one side. Gary

I may just leave them alone.

The "gold" coin looks to be a counterfeit. The large cents should separate depending on how they were fastened together. If it's glue, I'd soak them in acetone for a day or two. If they're soldered, heat them until the solder melts and immediately wipe the solder off. Reheat them to remove more if any is left behind. Keep in mind that whoever did this may have milled the inside surfaces flat so they would glue/solder together better. Instead of having a two headed coin, you may end up with two one-sided coins.
