Any idea what it's made of? Rather nice find I must say.

On the first item I think I see the word alloy. Cleaning it some more might reveal what kind of alloy.I'd guess babbit bearing metal or solder or bullet making alloy.

Of course PBK got this one right on. Here are some photos of my own handsaw made by this same company.

Photo 1 is the saw itself.

Photo 2 is the wooden handle or grip of the saw where this medallion is seated.

Photo 3 is the medallion itself, embedded in the wooden handle. Apparently my saw was made from 1953-1955.
