Two silver and 51 Wheat's
Hi everyone.
I have been hunting with the same three guys since 1964, all four of us grew up together and now we do research on areas from we were kids.
Well they came over yesterday about 1:30 pm all excited saying they found one of the places we had been looking for. I grab my M-6 and was out the door in a flash.
When we arrived at the site it seemed bigger than I remembered so we made grids to search like a checker board. Each grid was about 30 square feet and each of us took a grid and got started. It didn't take long before we started to find wheat's.
I found 27 wheat's in the first grid, the second grid I found 20 Wheat's a silver quarter and Roosevelt dime. It was getting dark now so we put on our head lamps not wanting to leave yet. So rather than start another grid that late 9:00pm
I went over the first one and worked it a little slower and found four more wheat's.
We figure it will take another 2 or 3 trips here to get it all and as everyone knows here you NEVER get it all.
The area was mainly dirt, sand and some grass. Everything was about 3 to 4 inches deep no foot traffic.
When I got home I was really beat so I took a quick picture and put the coins in there bath for the night.
I think this turned into a great trip although none of the wheat's I found were older than 1941, oh well maybe next time they will be.
The total count for the four of us was.
207 Wheat's
5 silver Washington quarters
3 silver dimes two roosevelt One merc.
Thanks for looking.
