Hi everyone! I have been trying to come up with the identity of this thing for a couple of months. It came up in two separate halves from an area that was an old homesite in the 1800's, although obviously the item could be much newer. It looks copper, there is no evidence of hinges, and the "neck" doesn't appear threaded. One side has an oval in the middle of the pattern, but there is no writing on it anywhere. My best guess would be some kind of perfume container.
Anyone have any better ideas?
