Got out today for 7 yes 7 hours at a home that was built sometime in the late 40's early 50's. Ended up with $1.58 in modern coins, another 1/4 teaspoon, two wheat's 1940 and 1957, a metal tag that has Duet Hybrid Tea on it, and other dudads but on to the good stuff.... a 1943p war nickle, and now the out of place items a consumer tax check from Oklahoma and a 1938 2 francs! When i found the Francs im sure the folks that live around this place thought i had done lost my mind from the yelling i was doing before i pulled it out of the hole because all i could see was what looked like a gold rim and i thought for sure i had done found my first ever gold coin but once i got it out and seen what it was i knew that i hadn't. Oh well i was still very happy with it and there's always the next hunt. Just makes me wonder tho the history behind those two items and how they made there way to MS. Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting.

Nice haul! How did you get your finds clean so fast?

That's a good day of diggin there.you found alot cool stuff.I too have hollered out like that a time or two.but one wasn't from a find,it was the fire ant hill I was kneeling on...Lol......

Twinkletoes as far as cleaning goes while im hunting as soon as i find a coin i put it in a medicine bottle with water so that the dirt on them does not harden up like concrete and when i get home i soak everything in scalding hot water for about 30 mins then brush it with a toothbrush and soap. I never let anything sit over night before cleaning because it makes it that much harder to get clean.

Great finds and HH

Another "could have been, should have been" ... those gold or brass-plated coins will stop your heart. Good hunt anyways !

Very cool finds Dignitup - good cleaning instructions as well

The Duet Hybrid Tea tag is a rose bush identification tag

Thank you stewielouie. I was scratching my head trying to think of what in the world hybrid tea could be..:icon_scratch:

Purdy nickle.nice digging.
