Well I got to two different beaches on the island today, the weather was a nice 75 degrees or so, the huntin wasn't bad either!
The silver chain was my first find for the day, it slipped right through my scoop, slippery little bugger. It is in really good shape, I think it had been lost this weekend.
Here is what I found:
The "Silver Do-Dad" is junk I think, no marks. It must have been a broach or a pin, cause there isn't a hole to hang it for a chain.
I like finding "clad" here, as the 100yen coins are common to find for me so far. The Japanese don't use paper money until the 1000yen point, so their coin denominations are 1yen, 5(Go-Yen, good luck to find one), 10yen, 50yen, 100yen and 500yen. I haven't found a 500 yen coin yet, but I am sure it is just a matter of time. The compostions are a little different so the discrimination is a little goofy. The 100 yen coins read as a nickel, the 10yen as a zinc cent, and the 1yen(alluminum) is as a pulltab.
The wet sand is a no-go. My Prism III just freaks out in the wet sand. I gave it the old college try today, but after digging a 2 foot deep hole for a 4 inch signal that kept moving and changing, I give up we sand until I can upgrade to a beach model.
I went to a new beach for me, one I haven't been to at all since I have been here. It is quite a bit bigger than Sunset beach, and has a swimming area(closed due to jelly fish and time of year), and a park area with all the vending machines that go along with it.
The sand was deep, got alot of deep signals, but only got the heart, and a couple coins. Lots of trash on this one. I only covered about a tenth of this beach, but I hit all the traffic areas. Many of the beaches here have concrete "steps" that protect from erosion of the upper areas, and for the beachgoers to sit at, but they play total holy hell on my poor machine. The cracks between every 3 foot step is filled with rocks, which are hot! So checking the area around the steps are a major pain, but that is where I have found many of the coins so far. I meant to take a pic of the steps, but send the camera home with the wife when it got too sunny 8)
Here is a pic of the finds from this beach:
The Heart was my first find at this beach. As I was sifting, I saw just a few of the stones first, which really got my heart going. I was thinking to myself "New Metal Detector, New Metal Detector....NOPE" I was a little "heart-broken", but it was still a cool find.
I made my wife promise that when I find gold/diamonds, she wasn't going to keep em, I was getting a new machine. She agreed, but we all know that is a pie crust promise: easily made, easily broken!
Well, thanks for looking!!
