I just want to show you these two coins that I found on a small trip to a medieval site together with my detector pal today.
These coins are of a type often found on medieval sites in Denmark.
They are so called "borgerkrigsmønter" meaning "civil war coins".
The coins should be made of silver, but they are from poor times with emense inflation and civil war in the country, so the silver content was extremely low and they mostly contain copper.
The coins were minted in a period in the 13th and 14th century.
These coins are still undetermined, but the one on the right is most probably from the king Erik Menved (1286-1319 AD).

Interesting story & one repeated by many Kingdons that had silver shortages.

I like these special coins. They represent hard times in history and you can follow them from ancient times till today. Awesome find! :icon_thumleft:

Thank you all :icon_thumright:
