Shawnboy, you dig, you gotta get the Red Book of Coins. Shows all US coins including colonials with values also given. Every hunter should have it, it is a basic book but will ID and value most American coins. Book is cheap and is updated every year or two for values. Nice V nickel, steel ring may be from horse hames which are harness parts.

In addition to the US "V Nickle" you found approximately half of a horseharness Snaffle Bit. No way to date it... that bit's form has stayed the same for approximately 200 years.

I hate to disagree with CBG but it looks more like a hitching ring to me....having a nut and bolt connector

correct me if I am wrong:dontknow:

I just have never seen a snaffle bit with a nut and bolt connector where the other half connects to it. This one clearly has a nut where the two halves would join. A horses hitching ring has the same characteristics of the one posted here..... I guess if I am the only one seeing that then I must be wrong:tongue3:
