Stayed very local this weekend and worked an area with LI Tom that we had pretty much dried out…….I just didn’t realize how dry. The Whites machine struck and Tom pulls out a nice old coin which marked a first for him. (I’m sending you the pics Tom, POST IT!). Hours (Like seven) went by and the Explorer had turned into a wheat picking machine, but no silver. Finally in the last hour a mercury dime made an appearance. That was very close to getting skunked. I’m grateful for that one silver coin, but couldn’t accept a one coin weekend. Tom can verify how hard we swung that day. So on Sunday I ended up going to a tiny little park that I consider to be drier than the place I was the day before. A couple of hours into the hunt, luck and whatever else involved paid off with another merc, and that was it for this weekend. Thirteen hours of hunting for two mercs is not the best it’s been, but that puts two more to the count and closer to catching up to Tom, who has taken a strong lead and refuses to let me catch up! Now it’s a count down to the Tri-State Hunt. See you there guys. Photos of the two mercs enclosed.

Hey Ricardo, are you near any Rev War Sites were you live? If so have you ever hunted any of them and found any cool stuff?

Tough finds, Ricardo. On days like that, I'm always happy to find the wheaties. It's the law of diminishing silver returns. :'( Makes you all more satisfied when you do pull a silver from a heavily pounded area.

Hey Ricardo , I've been checking out your finds and u-tube videos for a while and i can truly say you've

been an inspiration to me. Even though i live in one of the oldest cities in the U.S. ( Santa Fe, NM - 1610 )

the local parks are fairly picked over in terms of silver coins and many areas are too historically sensitive

to even think about detecting. While i've only dug 17 silver coins, i have been blessed to find 52 silver rings

in my 1st year of detecting. Your 2 mercs make for a wonderful day ! ( I've only found 1 so far ) Blessings

Gregory, Santa fe.

Sometimes a Merc is a major victory. ;D

Catching up to TOM? I was catching up to Nate (my son) when he smoked me this weekend (10 to 4). Talk about catching up to do... ::)

Ricardo,
My favorite coin, and two of them. Maybe next time out, you will hit many more.
