Two Firsts and I'm A New Member!!!
Hello all, I'm new to this site but not to metal detecting . Been detecting for about 5 years... Started out with a Whites MXT then graduated to the E-Trac... Got permission to hunt an 1870's farm house from a close friend , she was a little optimistic at first then I showed her how I dug and got the OK (not for my buddies yet though) Got my very first SLQ at this virgin site , looks to be a 1919 and it was screaming quarter at 5 inches I was doing the happy dance, then got a dime signal and out pops a 1916 MERC but no D that is my second 1916 this year, 4 feet away got a 1899 and 1903 BARBERS, then still in the front yard got two1889 INDIANS one in almost AU condition . I gave her twin sons all 15 of the WHEAT cents and the other 1889 INDIAN since they were following me around the whole time... Then I got this iffy wheat signal down about 9" and out pops my very first CROTAL BELL!!! It's in beautifull shape , has a very ornate design with a running horse,Initials W.E.B. and the #3 on it (Another happy dance). The bell still dings and in great shape but has rust at the top where it looks to be a clasp for the bell. If anybody has any info on the bell that would be great!!! I only hit about 25% of the property if that so can't wait to get back , it is a great site so far. So Hello from OHIO and HAPPY HUNTING!!!
