I didn’t have time to detect for about a week. I’ve taken full advantage of my detecting opportunities over the past two days. Three sites, four hunts and lots of digging have resulted in a few keepers. Best finds should-have-been the cool WW1 motorcycle toy soldier and the vintage True Nord compass. Unfortunately the compass has lost most of its oil and the toy soldier has severe battle damage. I would have really loved to have found this guy complete....

Anyway, I did find some Morels while I was detecting :icon_thumleft:

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I love the ww1 toy. I’m not sure about your soldier toy but I had a neighbor that road a bicycle during the ww1. He got it from a British soldier. It folded in half. I used to ride it around the neighborhood. I think his great grandson now has it. But now it is hanging above his fireplace. We use to jump ramps with it.

That was some great digging.

I think you are correct. I just assumed it was a motorcycle but his feet are at different levels, like one peddle is up and the other is down.....

Can you imagine riding a bicycle in a war zone. I wonder how fast you can pedal while being shot at. Those men were the real deal.

Do you know what the blue thing is? The color is awesome.

It’s a lipstick tube. Unfortunately, it’s smashed....

Congrats Squirrel, nice finds! I like that compass, the original liquid was, likely, glycerin. The soldier was likely a courier who would deliver orders to and from headquarters. During WWII the air raid wardens also rode bicycles. Helmet and leggings would have been the same.

Re: The Firestone token. Harvey Firestone was Henry Ford's brother in-law. Preserving his ownership in the rubber plantations was
one of the major reasons we entered the War In Vietnam.

Keep swingin!

Nice finds Squirrel. I like that Toy Soldier and the rest of your finds. Nice job on the Morels. Our season has been over for 3 weeks now. Can't wait till next year !

You did better than almost cool......you did very well. Great bunch of finds!

Wow, what a great haul, congratulations, S322! Your soldier dispatch rider was made by the Manoil toy company in the USA, circa 1936-1941, and patterned after the uniforms of the time. Cheers! Sub
