To me it's a nice way to get paid I love old coins they look so neat

Hey that's really cool buddy! My granddad had a big coin collection and some very valuable coins in his collection. He used to take them out for me and tell me about each one. Perhaps that's where my desire to treasure hunt came from. When I found the tree coin it was bittersweet as he's not here to see it. Hopefully he was looking down smiling from up above. Cherish these moments with your grandparents. They're way more special than you realize right now

Oh I know. And my grandmother knows I love old coins and antiques she knew I'm interested in the coins so I'm sure I'll end up with all them and she knows I'll take care of them lol they are a lot better than anything I've found metal detecting thus far

Only sliver I've actually found are two mercs a 1923 and a 1943 otherwise no luck with coins metal detecting so far

That's great! Spend as much time with them as you can. Trust me they're a lot wiser than we think they are at the time. The older we get the more we understand what they were telling us. And hold onto those coins forever. It's such a cool connection and you will have part of them with you forever. I love these family posts

Yeah my grandmother has had these coins for a long time and I intend to keep the coins I was given though I never let go any older coins as it is lol

Lol well to be fair I asked if rather than getting paid in cash if I could be paid with those coins I had had interest in them for a long time

Nice story and nice coins. I am old like Ahab (but not that old) and he is correct about spending time with the G-parents. You will cherish those memories for the rest of your life.

Keep on MDing, more silver coins will show up. GL&HH!

No Abe, I'm pretty sure your granddad has a doll too and pushed another pin in when you found the tree coin!! LOL

Lol you guys find some pretty cool coins can't find stuff like that here in California

One of my favorite looking coins is the Morgan Dollar. I figured it going to be a long time (If EVER) that I"d get to dig one.
Recently, I did find a WL 50 cent pc. and showed it to my Dad. So, he goes in his bedroom and comes out with a 1921 Morgan. It was my Grandfather's, who collected some small amount of silver coins, and then was passed to my Dad, and I suppose his brother's.
Dad just hands it over. "You will appreciate this."
I did, I do, and always will, till I pass it on.

And so will you!

Nice- we don't have to dig up all the treasures we get!

You're in Cali and have a Philly Morgan! How come I can never get a San Fran? You have some cool grandparents. My very best memories are ones with my grandpa. I loved that man. He could do no wrong in my eyes.
