Well, I finally broke and decided to head out in this heat today to swing the beep machine around... Its really hot and humid and not a cloud in the sky, so I decided not to stray too far from home. On my way to one of my creek spots in an older little railroad town, I pulled out of my driveway only to make it about half a mile down the road when my neighbor, who we will call farmer Brown was chasing one of his sheep that had gotten loose back into the pasture. I stopped to give him a hand and we got to talking about his farm house and how old the farm was and what not.. Well right as I was leaving he yelled for me to hold up and proceeded to tell me that years ago while plowing one of his fields well off the roadway (like a mile back in the woods) he started turning up a few shards of old pottery and chunks of cast iron, he welcomed me to poke around the spot if I was up for the mile long hike.. Well, needless to say that excited me being it's probably never been searched before. I grabbed a few bottles of water and headed out. Took a while before I even found a signal, but then a miracle, the first high tone popped out an 1804 half cent! Then a flat button! Then it went silent for a while, it was getting hotter as the day went on then just as I was about to give up I got a good tone, nothing special, just a spoon but I noticed shards of pottery in the hole while digging and knew I had stumbled on the spot the farmer had spoke of. 2 feet away came out another flat button, then a nice decorative one and last but not least.... My first ever 1/2 Real Spanish silver!! Date is rough but it's between 1800 and 1808!! Not bad for digging practically in the back yard!! I poked around in the history books and found out there was a log cabin at the site I was at. Apparently built in 1791 and it was one of the first in the area and the man who lived there was hung by vigilantes, accused of murdering his deceased wifes brother but was wrongly accused. In the end I enjoyed learning his story and bringing his spirit back through the findings of his personal items. May his soul rest easy!

Nicely done! Congrats on the great combination of finds. Spanish silver is highest on my bucket list right now!

Fantastic finds. The eye on the button is still attached--nice bonus. There is probably a lot more great finds in that field.

Killer hunt! Congrats :icon_thumright:
