Wow, what a morning! Hit a local soccer field in hope of clad and jewelry and ended up with 2 Barber dimes, 2 tokens, an old Police button, a huge (22g) ring unmarked and $3 in clad.
Very Nice!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Must of been something else there in the past. Researching the site would be interesting. I would hunt it again after the soil is deeply wet. Hunt it with the mindset that there are very deep coins that may only give a whisper of a hit. My guess is that the site had some 1890-1920 activity.

It's also possible that soil was brought in from a different site. Dimes would probably sift through a loam screen.

Has that field been around as long as the Barbers? What was there before the ball field? I love finding coins that are seemingly out of place. I'd be giving that field some extra special attention. Congrats!
I've started to do some research on it as well as looking into some nearby property. I'll certainly be going back for more as time permits.

I'm working on deeper history of the property now. I do know some old train tracks are very close to this area. I hit it after several days of rain, so conditions were good but I'll be going back for sure.

Yes, this could be very possible given some of the nearby terrain.

I found a whole bunch of those "P" buttons on a homesite outside of Charlotte NC and later discovered they are POLICE buttons.. nice Dimes also !!
