Hey folks,
I feel like I’ve been letting you all down lately! I really haven’t gotten out much with work getting busy and the grass drying out around here. I don’t like to turf hunt much during the dry season because it leaves those ugly brown patches even if you plug correctly.
I got out for a few short hunts this weekend.
Friday afternoon was beautiful so I hit a few little spots around my neighborhood. No silver but the old Norwegian 1 Krone was neat.
Yesterday, I spent no more than 30 minutes at a local high school I’ve been eyeing. Found some clad but nothing more. I was in a rush, forgot my hat and jacket, and got caught in a sudden downpour. Not the greatest!
Today, I almost didn’t go out but it’s my last chance for a couple weeks so I figured I should. My first couple options I scouted were busts but a place on the way caught my eye.
Right off the bat I got a wheat. Little bit later I was getting a 12.41/12.44 at 4-5 inches. Usually a penny at best. I’m not picky so I dig down and bam! There’s a silver quarter on my towel. Turns out, it was sharing the hole with a nail bringing the VDI down.
Little hit later I’m getting a 12.33 at 4-5 inches. Usually a wheat or possibly an Indian, occasionally a deep zinc or piece of trash. I had a super hard time pinpointing but finally found it. A 1906 Indian!
Then, shortly later I was getting a perfect 12.47/12.46 signal at 4 inches. That’s almost always a silver quarter. I dug down very carefully and was pumped to see that it was indeed silver!
I also found 4 wheats on the day. So glad I didn’t stay home!
Good luck out there and happy hunting!
