My son lives in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in an old house that built about 1920. Before that there was either a house and/or a church on the property, from what we have been able to research. It is less than a mile from the University of Alabama, which was considered the "West Point of the South" during the Civil War. Much of the university was burned to the ground by Union troops late in the war. Digging their garden, my son and his wife have found a few old bits of steel that may be relics of that period, including what looks like part of some sort of a horse bridle. We are going up there for a visit in early September and I'm really looking forward to taking my Garrett AT Pro along for a visit. As far as we can determine the property has never been detected. Wish me luck.

My wife is from Tuscaloosa and I've spent a lot of time metal detecting that area. The wife's first husband was a descendant of the Union Calvary officer that laid waste to the area, General Croxton. Have fun.
