I do more then 90° .
normally I circle the object from as many directions as possible

usually when I don't I have a harder time pinpointing.

If the signal isn't clear or if pin pointing is difficult, I will circle it and sweep from all directions, most often the coin is on edge when this happens, or it's something I really don't want and the detector is trying to warn me away! But I always want to know what the iffy signal is, so I dig!

sometimes for me it means multiple targets :laughing7:

I never remember to turn if I get a solid signal once or twice over the same hole.

I don't turn, just move the coil forward and back (concentric coil so same thing) And No, if it is a good signal left/right I will not bother.
Once pinpointed, if the depth is less then 4" I will raise the coil with pinpoint button held to make sure the depth changes as expected as I raise it.. if not I know it is not a coin and I could be digging to china!

I call it dancing around the target LOL

If I'm on grass, I walk around the target to narrow down the pin point, at the beach, I don't, I just scoop.

I turn 90° on iffy sounds but most of the time.

In trashy areas and with iffy targets, I circle the target while swinging...if I think its a coin with trash around it, I wiggle the coil back and forth in a real small spot and try to "Fish" the target out.
