Tuesdays Hunt

I think the plow gets a lot of undeserved blame. Not saying they don't do some damage, but keep in mind, the natives discarded points with broken bases and tips back at their camp or village. I know that is why I find way more brokes than whole ones where I hunt.

Nice finds Americus.

It's the sharp change in patina that gives it away as a recent break... His section of Georgia puts on some heavy patina it's pretty easy to tell when they've been recently broken

Very true. When I find a damaged point down here in a field, I can tell immediately if it is an old break or not.

Nice Finds! :icon_thumleft: Is the point in the last photo, first on the left, a patina'd gray chert? Looks like a type of point that is not as common in your daily finds.

another score for you Americus. The plow damaged ones on the left dont look that bad to me. Id take any of the 2. All look great.

It would have been a very nice point. I could see it a long way off. I was sick when I found the tip was broken off.

I know allot say plow but most of the damage comes from when they disc the fields. No Til uses a disc more often and at times a plow. But mostly a disc. That is why I find so many that are cut in half.

i agree

Pressures put on them by being packed in soil that in some places freezes and expands and puts uneven pressure on them probably takes some out also.. Especially the thin ones.
