Found this poking around the rocky hills today. Down on the ground by some rocks. Any idea what it is or how it was used?

It seems like a white pigment and maybe a tar like substance?

I did leave it where i found it..just in case it was something bad.

Well, I hate to say it and am probably wrong, but that looks exactly like the tube they draw blood in when I get a blood test at the doctors... even the cap is the same. it has a whitish liquid in it that preserves the blood that they draw, at least that is what they told me once when I asked what was in it.. so it could be... but I would hope not. probably a good thing to leave it where it was.

Looks like a bottle of gunk to me. :dontknow:

Could be some druggie paraphernalia maybe. Or just a bottle of gunk, like many others out there. I've never bothered to photograph any though.... strange.

I found one of those. It was on a construction site......It was oil inside.Water, when mixed with oil makes that milky looking substance. It's a tell-tale sign that your engine has a crack in the block.

I'm not sure what the gunk is , but the container looks like a "blank" for a 1 liter soda bottle . Here is one that a friend who worked in a bottling plant gave me a few years ago , it's for 7-UP .

I like this idea....I'm guessing that the "blank" was put in a heated and vacuumed mold to swell it out to its final shape. The lid on the piece in question does look like the lids on the 20oz. and 1 liter soda bottles.

Another possibility is a sample of heavy duty motor oil drawn off for lab testing. The objective would be to preserve the life of the engine by monitoring ring and bearing wear. Are there garages or heavy equipment yards nearby?

If it was a lab sample for engine/lube oil the oil would still be a liquid, seem this contents has evaporated inside the tube & deposited a white substance?

good thing to leave behind DM.

Have no clue on this one other than maybe the secret coke/pepsi mix :D

Looks just like a pop bottle blank and a bottling screw up, where the coke or pepsi syrup went in first along with whatever garbage they preserve the stuff with (the white stuff?) and the syrup just congealed that's all...

Could be blood sample like said above but it kind of looks like drugs that I saw at the "Drug Store" where police show what different drugs look like. In any case glad you didn't pick it up!

you are thinking of a vacutainer. If it is one the cap has a hole with a rubber insert that a needle punctures.

That one seems to have one of those rings that stays on the bottle like a soda to show it was opened. I have never seen a vacutainer with such a top, they all had a rubber stopper with a plastic shield covering it. I have worked in a hospital for 12 year part in the ICU several doing phlebotomy, i won't say it is not a blood sample tube, but not one I have seen.
