Sometimes a chunk of unrecognizable rusted iron can be classified as junk. And we need to ask ourselves is this something that deserves hours of our limited time on Earth. It's rusty junk. Throw it away.

You may be right about it being rusty junk. I just thought it could be part of a plow or other farm implement. I will see if anyone can ID it. Thanks for the input.

No ID comes to mind. That said, our forefathers didn't make stuff for the heck of it, so at one time this did have a purpose. However, determining its purpose will be difficult, made even more so without clearer photos (with a size reference) and as much context as to where, how, etc it was found. If you can provide that info it would be great. Otherwise ask the Youtube subscriber. Also, do some research and post what was going on in the area years ago (i.e. farming?). All this info can help narrow down the purpose for it - but there is no guarantee it will ever be IDed.

Welcome to Tnet John!

Blacksmith made artifacts are often very hard to ID. Most of the time things were made to order and
they often made things that were used for one specific purpose one time only. Farms also often
had forges so some of the things they made might look crude and amateurish. De-scale it, you
may get some idea. Also save the photo for a camera instead of a cellphone.

Best wishes!

I agree with everything the other guys have said so far.
It's most likely blacksmith-made, horse-drawn plow hardware... but it's anybodies guess really.

Blacksmith made latch/tensioner for a round pole. Would lock when pulled on one end. Like cord on a tent pole, draw bar etc. How's that for a wild guess????
