Trying to Id Early 1800's homesite brass Disc

I found this yesterday at a early 1800's home site, it's brass and measures 1 7/8" . when I first removed it from the ground I thought it might be some kind of breast plate, but after cleaning the dirt off I don't see any attachment marks on the back, so now I have no clue. Any help or ideas is much appreciated. Thanks, Bill

My guess is that it's a rosette that has had the attachments broken off....Unless there is absolutely no sign of anything being on the other side. A picture of the reverse would help to clarify this.

added reverse pic to the main post

I also found this old thread about a 1840 militia breastplate,http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/193416-1830-1840-militia-breast-plate.html mine looks very much like it, but I have found breastplates and rosettes and there is always at least some sign of attachment marks and mine and the one in this old thread doesn't show any sign of them.
So hopefully if we could come up with a good identification for these disc it would be very helpful.
Thank, Bill

Alright! You found my beer coaster.....I knew it would turn up sooner or later! :laughing7: Maybe a little electrolysis will be in order? Or maybe a peroxide bath. Are all the marks surface damage or part of a pattern?
