Shot in the dark a plaque front piece for a little ornate box

It's hard to make much out from the image but I'm fairly certain that's a camel on the right end. Also guessing it is pewter...

So my first thought was part of a miniature nativity set or ornament. If you Google miniature pewter nativity you will see lots of examples, though none exactly like yours.

I also found a vintage pewter nativity brooch. But I doubt a brooch would have the back decorated like that...

Based on it's size, I'm thinking it was part of a matchbox holder. :icon_scratch:
These type of scenes were popular during the mid-Victorian period.

I agree with Matt, probably pewter. :thumbsup:
