I am a newbie to this site....so first of all, let me say HELLO to everyone!

I have just aquired this General Electric refrigerator, and cannot seem to find out a lot about it.
I especially want to know what year it is (says model LB-92, and has a serial # on the bottom of 3C214842).

Am also wondering what advice the experts have on restoration; what is the best way to repaint it?
What type of paint should be used?
Is it worth restoring (for someone like me who has never restored one), or should I just clean it up & try to sell "as is" to someone (I know that's a question you may not be able to answer...just trying to guage what I may be getting myself into).

It works fine; was plugged in when I bought it & was cold.
Any idea of an approximate value AS IS?

Any feedback would be appreciated,

Not sure on the age, I know that when I was growing up my grandparents had 2 fridges similar to yours, one was an International Harvester, and the other was an AC Delco. They were both from the late 40's early 50's as I remember. The IH was in the garage full of Red White and Blue Beer.....

As far as restoring it goes I'm not sure what they go for, but it might cost more than it's worth. A good autobody shop should be able to handle the shell, but I'm not sure where you'd go for any internals.

Hi. I just found your post through a google search. Did you decide what to do with your refrigerator? Is it running? I have one just like this. I am missing a few things inside but it runs great. My husband and I will be painting it in the near future. The only problem we have is that it freezes everything in a few days regardless of what shelf we use. That's not really a bad thing when it's hot out and you want water. We use it mostly for extra milk, bottled water, drinks and the occasional watermelon. I think it wouldn't freeze as bad if we had the bottom tray under the freezer. That is next on my list to find. We are ordering the gasket this week for to replace on ours. I would love to see your pictures if you have refurbished it.

I was a home inspector for a few years, most GE appliances SN usally start with 2 letters, on yours "3C" most likely refers to the month/year. Yours could represent: 3 = March C = 1946. My guess is it is a late 40's early 50's.
