This cannonball was found in Gauley Bridge WV. It is about 8 inches and weighs approximately 65 pounds. I have not been able to find much information about it. cannonball 003.jpg

The Canonball guy is ya guy!!!.............HH

Would need exact specs, but looks like a 8" solid shot (generally 7.9" or 7.8" and 60-65lbs) Would not be a mortar ball. Could be fired from an 8" columbiad or any other 8" smoothbore. These were commonly used

Well its no doubt a seige type round, either cannon or mortar , both would have to be huge to handle a 8" 65 lbs ball , these types is guns are not moved around like a field cannon there just to heavy so was it a fort near by of sort to use this type of round?

The cannonballguy helped me out in the past..
