See if a piece of sharp quartz will scratch one of your specimens, quartz is a 7 on the hardness scale while topaz is 8, if it scratches it, it's not topaz. You could also do a specific gravity test. Watch a YouTube video, its pretty easy and accurate if done right. Also if you see any striations topaz lines will go up and down and quartz striation lines will go side to side.

Thanks. I was able to scratch the surface of it with quartz. I am assuming then that it is a piece of quartz. Do you know what type it might be?

If it scratched it easily it's probably not quartz either, a 7 and 7 hardness should just glide across and not scratch. The smaller one in your pictures looks a lot like honey calcite I've collected before, it has a hardness of 3, it's my best guess what you have.
