Trying electrolysis

I I've been reading and made an electrolysis cleaner with a mild steel anode. Baking soda in warm water as solution. 3/4 of a quart of water with 2 tbls of baking soda. And the funny thing is I used a quarter in it for about 3 mins. An it looks like copper. Here is a pic. Any idea why?

It just really puzzles me

Newer quarters are clad in copper and nickel. Probably a reaction between the two metals.
