Found this in Rathdrum, ID on a vacant lot where a house once stood. The area I found it has homes from the late 1800's early 1900's. Not sure of the type of metal. In the upper left hand corner of the photo is a penny for size comparison. It reads Truth, Justice, Liberty, Equality. The only thing that I could find with those four words together were the FOE (Fraternal Order of Eagles), but all of the things that I saw affiliated with them had an eagle on it. ??? Please help. Thanks!

Whats the back look like?

The back is smooth other than in the middle it apears that there may have been something previously attached to it because it looks like a broken weld. The badge/brooch (or whatever it is) itself has a curve to it. thanks.

It had a pin on the back. It is the top part of a medallion... like a war medal, only non-military. I found this "Fireman's Celebration" souvenir badge. Of course the nice pic is from the net. These were made from around 1880 until the 1920s or so. There were many different versions.

You ought to be able to find a match on Goggle. I am at the office, and need to get back to work!

Congrats on a really nice item sir!

Thanks Carolina Tom. Thats a pretty cool find you have there. Yes...i was thinking that it was some sort of meddallion. it appears to have had something that once hung from it. I scanned the area with my detector to see if i could find the othere part...but no such luck. I will do more research and see if i can find out what its from and post it if i have any luck. Thanks!

I looked multiple times for the other piece of mine, no luck. Here is the link to the FOE, as well as pic of one that is close to your find. Don't say that I never did anything for you!

Goggle images: Fraternal Order of Eagle Badge. A bunch of different ones show up

Best of luck sir.

I looked it up under "Fraternal Order of Eagle Badge" as well. The only thing to me that links this to FOE is the use of the words "Truth, Justice, Liberty, Equality" all used together like this..but what's different is that all of the FOE pins that I find have eagles on them...mine does not. The search continues. Thanks for helping me to identify this!

I'm with Carolina_Tom, I also believe it's from the F.O.E. Just because your piece doesn't have an Eagle just means the eagle would have been on another part of the badge. Perhaps the motto was on your piece and the name hanging just below.

Maybe the eagle was suspended below the piece you have. This is no where close to being a match but it gives you an idea of what I'm talking about.

I bet your right. I looked and looked but still can't find one identical to it to date it. Oh well...either way, i'm excited to have found it.
