Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a used Explorer SE, basically new in the box for a few hundred dollars. I have read and heard so much about them and wanted to try the Minelab product line. The detector is a fantastic machine with great depth with a tweak or two. The only issue I am having is the LCD screen becomes misaligned and parts of the display change position. This only happens when I try to detect in cold temperatures (below 40 degrees). Everything else works great at these temperatures except the LCD display. I tone hunt with my other machines and rarely look at the screen, so this is not a deal breaker for the detector use. I have conducted many experiments with battery voltage, temperature changes and settings. The battery voltage and settings had no affect on operation. Today the temperature was above 40 degrees and sure enough all worked well.

Has anyone experienced this problem at low temperature with the Explorer SE?

Thank you for your help.

No, but had same problem with a Tesoro Cortez.
I posted about it earlier this year. Most responses were battery based.
The "tech" folks will chime in.
Also, appeal to Frankn. He had an informative post on batteries in cold weather.
Peace ✌
