Triple Whatsit

Here are a trio of objects to discuss! (Penny for scale) I retreived them from an area that had a few coal mine worker stick home foundations in the 30's 40's. The catch is.. there is a steam rail bed nearby that was there since the late 1830's. So the timeframe could be all over the place, but more than likely 1930-1950. My best guess on the bird is a pounce pot. I tried to find its head, but no luck. The hinge is still intact on its neck though. The body is hollow but its definitely not a pipe as there is no other holes than where the head was. The other two things I have absolutely no clue! :icon_scratch:

Thanks for looking and HH -James

The brass piece with the knob is a sink stopper. A chain would attach to the inner flange with the small hole.

Could the last piece be some sort of trap or snare? Or maybe an attachment for footware for walking on ice?

These are definitely some good ideas! However, the construction and material is definitely too delicate to be a crampon. The teeth on this are not sharp but more rounded and everything folds up against the main body with hinges at two joints on each "arm". My hunting partner and I have voted this the strangest contraption to come out of the ground this year so far lol.

The knob item is part of a spring hinge.

The last item seems to be a fine adjustment device of some sort. The only thing I can thinnk is it came out of an adjustable dress-form (sewing) mannequin. Adjustments would be made by hooking the "cleats" on the wire cage inside the manniquin. :dontknow:
