Last week went to some older campsites built by ccc workers in the early 1920s and i found 12 wheat cents, 2 buffalo nickles 2 bullets a lucky teter hell drivers token a girl scout pin and an old knife. Their is some very large trees on the sight and under them are tons of pine needles maybe a foot thick so im gonna rake em out and see if i can find some silver.

Your ccc camp isn't as old as you stated as they were created in 1933 and ended in 1942.

Sorry I made a mistake the ccc camp was formed in the early 1930s i didn't realize i put the twenties. The coin on the upper left is a wheat next to 2 corroded buffalo nickles. The hell drivers were a group of stunt drivers founded by Earl Lucky Teter who traveled around preforming in the 1930s up till July 5th 1942 the day before his induction in to the military Teter was to give a final performance for the Army emergency relief fund attempting a record 125 foot car jump. The car misfired during the run to the jump and lucky came down a few yards short and hit the ramp and was killed. In 1943 Teter's widow sold the show to Joie Chitwood. Lucky Teter was also credited for coining the phrase hell drivers. Thanks guys for checking out my finds.

If it's not a CCC camp it probably or likely anyway was a WPA camp. Use to have an old WPA road across my deer hunting lease to a quary a few miles away from the main road. I found lots of old wagon parts and mule shoes in the area, as well as a trash dump with rusted tin cans. Nice stuff you found. Monty

Nice finds! I also like hunting old campsites, and sometimes have the same problem as you - the ground cover (usually weeds) are so deep that I know I'm losing 4 inches or more depth at times as I can't get the coil close to the ground through the weeds.

There is bound to be silver there - keep looking!

That Hell Drivers token is extremely cool!!! It is very historic. I don't know if it is worth much, but it is really cool!!! I would love to find one like that. Congratulations!!!!!

HH,

Dr. Ace
