Hi all, Had a very lean day.Spent most of the day near a place Wattle gully just a few minutes from the town.No luck Then so i headed up too the old back road to Maldon .This road was the main road in the gold rush days but became quite after the railway to the city was built in 1863.Often merchants and traders would set up shop along the road ,too take advanage of the passing miners and travelers.Dealing out of the back of wagons or out of tents.Always ready to move to next gold-rush.These merchants were often agents for import companies ,wholesalers, banks and even newspapers. As easy as stop wagon put up their signs and poeple just walked up to trade.Everything was over priced due to the lack of supplies .One paid dearly for many things and often the miners gold for the day's work would be gone buying basics. My only find is a advertizing token for a unkown newspaper, The other side of this token is totaly destroyed.
Areas around these goldrush towns have hunted for nearly 30 years with mds so there little left to get.
tinpan Had a great weekend, good food and beer but still not one piece of gold.
