Over the weekend I was at a family reunion and chatted up my aging uncles to see if they had any tips for good spots to detect. Turns out that a house that my parents own was built on the site of an early store and over the years the back yard was also playground for many of the local boys (very small town). I headed there Monday after visiting with my folks and did a little detecting. Didn't find the truly old stuff that I was hoping for but my very first target ended up being a deep Walking Liberty half. Large silver is rare around here these days so I was very happy to see that big silver rim in my plug. Hunted the rest of the afternoon hoping for more but ended up only finding 2 more silvers, a merc and a rosie, several wheats, and a few dollars in clad. Enjoyed the nice afternoon and will hopefully find more silver there as time goes by. A lot of trash and junk to filter through before I get to the deeper stuff I'm afraid.
Happy hunting to all!
