Found this at a field near an old farm house that has coughed up old copper from the early 1800's and late 1700's. All I can think of is some type of trigger?? ??? It is made of brass. Any ideas? Thanks!!

It's a picture hanger. Hooked onto the crown moulding in a Victorian era home. Wire hooked onto it with the picture below.
Neat find.

looks like a hook suspended from a rod. Maybe used by the farmer to stretch a pizzle,??????????

Having worked in a packing house in my youth, a pizzel was a bull or steer penis...in old times they were dried and used for whips and crops...not sure how the hook would be employed...

Maybe a hook for a cook pot?

Now I know this sounds silly, but I know exactly what it is. It's a part to some common household item. I took one apart for repairs recently and had trouble getting this part to fit. But....I can't remember what the heck it was I took apart! Told you it would sound silly. ::) But I'll think of what it is and then I'll be so famous you can't stand me! Ok, so some of you can't stand me now, well...... takes one to know one! :tongue3: M  nty

Mojjax and all...thanks for that. I have found other hangers like that, most like the one shown which I found at the same location, the first one seems thicker and more rugged than the ones I have been finding which made me question what it is, but that is definitely what it is...Thanks again for the i.d., I appreciate it!!!
