Found this today, it appears to be copper or possible bronze. It is not magnetic. I believe it to be a trigger guard....to what is what I'd like to know. Not sure if its relevent but I found a 1775 British Coin about 5 feet away. Thanks for your help.

The item is a brass handle/finger ring from a 19th Century candlestick, or chamberstick.
