Hi All,

These finds are from a hunt a few days ago. It is a foundation site and after digging up some iron my first good find was a 1907 Indian Head. After some more deep iron digging I got a decent signal and from about 7 inches up comes the George II Copper. After cleaning the copper I believe the last digit is a 9 so I think either it is dated 1739 or 1749 and it measures 28.5 mm in diameter and weighs 8.4 grams. Soon after the King George Copper I dug what looks like a piece of a buckle. After a few more junk targets I ended up digging a deep signal which turned out to be the trigger guard, which made my day :headbang:. I don't know how old it is but it is one sweet looking relic and displays nicely. I had to get going and as I was heading out of the woods I got a solid 81 signal and from about 6inches the Large Cent came to light. After cleaning it up at home it is a Matron Head and quite get the date of off it. Overall it was a real fun hunt. Thanks for looking and reading.

Nice coins and the trigger guard is great

A good hunt you had.
The gun part is a nice find.
I think it safe to say fertilizer is not the only factor in the toasting of copper, although I do find them much worse than those.

Don't see too many trigger guards complete like that!

Copper is 1739. (young head)

SWEET, COMPLETE trigger guard! That would've made my day too! I have dug bits and pieces, but none that are intact. Congrats,

Buck

Very nice finds man ! That trigger guard is cool - is that 18th century ?
Yes,very well could be 18 th Cen.

Very nice one!I have often wondered how one loses a complete trigger guard?I understand broke pieces

I'd say you had a pretty great day out there!

Nice digs! A big congrats on the trigger guard!

Nice pile of early relics. Maybe a Brown Bess trigger guard.

Yes indeed Rick, these coppers are pretty toasty, but at least they can still be Id.

Yeah Kuger when I dug it up I wondered the same thing

Of all the things you found, I agree with the rest of the crowd, the trigger guard wins the day, excellent find!

Thanks Ironhorse, before I even cleaned the coppers, I already knew the trigger guard was the find of the day for sure. I just love digging relics like that
