Tried my luck at a"Kirkie Coppa Caper"
Hi all, after reading Kirks last post and well enjoyed ,i had to come up with a site that had real early history as far as can find around my area.Spent a few hours researching and came up with this
History In 1835 Thomas Mitchell surveyed and mapped area south of me. late in 1835 colonial government of New South Wales Granted a fellow called Hutchinson a large land grant for settlement and farming.Called Hutchinson's Sheep Run at first, but he later renamed it Sutton Grange.
Some of the families who first settled here, still own a lot of the farm land. After asking premission without luck at a few farms, my luck was to change.Remembering a friend who knew a few families in the area really helped. Thanks Liz
Spent many hours on 4 trips to to the area Sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh.Found lots of pieces of standard gauge stock fence wire and a few stone block footing stones at first.Really not much to be hade till a got a strong hit that just about blew my ears off.Dug down about 5 inches and i could see the ugly big head of King George 111. Lol and big and wilver the sort of event that gets Kirkie raving LolThe coin is worn as usual but i got what i set out to find. The only other keeper was a English token and a common one at that. You just make out English Copper Company.
I am happy with my finds as there no settlement in my area any older than this.At the limit
Thanks Kirkie for some good ideas and the rest for looking.
