I use, Whites MXT and Garrett AT Pro.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Me and a friend went to the park after he was done with a locksmithing job. In the park stood an old tree right out in the open in view of the public.

The tree where the well hidden signal is, is HUGE its about 5 feet in diameter. The signal is right up next to the trunk roots, the root alone is probably 2 1/2 feet in diameter. The signal seems to be comming from inside the root. If I was going to dig it it would be a giant excavation. I dug a little next to the root where the signal was comming. I dug dirt for about 2 inches and hit more of the one root, the root is huge. I would have to go around the bottom of the tree it would be hard and the park people may not like it. So I don't know if its a retrievable target.

What could be there a rare coin, a cache, jewelry? How do I get it out?

Thanks all, I have to go hunting now! HH!!

Disc. Way up is cache mode for my MD. You think it is a cache?

Does your detector have depth reading? Chances are it's not a cache if it's located in a park. But Dig It Up Anyway! HH Matt

I would guess the base of a tree to be a fine place for a cache! I'm sure it hasn't always been a park.

How is it that 'way up' on disc goes to cache mode? They are not necessarily related as I understand. You should have your disc set to eliminate ferrous as much as possible, but turn lower and away from cache to less and less depth till you get an idea of the depth. Then you can decide on a plan.

Sounds like a night time rescue mission!

Yea someone could have put a cache there a long time ago before the park was a park.
How do I dig it out?
My detector says its only 4 inches deep. But it has to be in or under the root.
