Well...went out today for quite awhile trompin through the trees and found this ring. No stone though...Still cleaning it up and hopeful that there will be something on the inside. It's near CW activity so I'm guessing it's pretty old. After I was done in that area, I had a few more minutes before I had to pick up the kids, so I went over to a trusty tree I've had good luck with in the past. I switched my Ace 250's coil to the smaller coil and got to huntin..I ended up diggin the button and the Whats it...Any ideas on that.. The button I didn't know had anything on the back of it until I took the picture. That was cool that it showed up...

Anyhow thatnks for looking...Any help on the whats it would be great...

Looks like it could be some kind of old glass cutter or pen ????

The ring I don't think is incredibly old. Probably turn of the century or later. The button is a flat button. Time frame is Colonial up through about the CW.

Genool, nice finds!
That thing must be a Buttonwood tree!

I have no idea what your whatsit is, but it looks like it may be something modern?
let us know what you find out!

Man another button. That is awesome, i don't have a clue what the other item is. Get back to that tree and dig more buttons!

Old trees are good indeed. . . that ring and button are nice

Your "what's-it" might be an old pen-knife with a short, angular blade that's missing the protective cap.
Before erasers, you had to literally "scrape off' your mistakes from the paper. . . just a guess.

Take care & HH!

I had a strange feeling that you were going to find another button under that tree... It's the INCREDIBLE BUTTON TREE
